Nigerian singer Simi has taken to social media to address the backlash and misinterpretations of her recent statement about not really listening to music. See the video that caused the controversy below:

In response to criticism from social media users, Simi clarified that she doesn't follow songs or artists outside of her personal circle.

In a series of posts on X, Simi explained her unique relationship with music, revealing that she doesn't even listen to her own songs, except for a brief period when working on a new project. She noted that she is familiar with her husband Adekunle Gold's music because they are married, but otherwise, she is terrible at keeping up with new music.

Simi emphasized that her statement was not a boast but an honest reflection of her habits. "I don't listen to anything. I find a voice I like, I binge their project for a month and move on. I don't listen to songs or know any artists that are not in my face. It's not a flex. It's just my truth," she wrote.
