Nigerian afrobeats megastar Rema has landed in India to perform at the high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.
On Thursday night, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner shared a video on Instagram, showing himself walking towards a private chartered plane in an all-black outfit. He added the track ‘Azaman’ from his recently released sophomore album, He Is, as background music and included an emoji of the Indian tricolour.
According to the Hindustan Times, Rema is charging $3 million to perform his global hit song ‘Calm Down’ at the event.
In addition to Rema, Canadian singer Justin Bieber was reportedly paid $10 million for his performance, and pop star Rihanna also performed for an undisclosed fee.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant will tie the knot on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The wedding is the culmination of a series of lavish celebrations that the families have been hosting since March.
The four-day wedding extravaganza in Mumbai is expected to attract a star-studded guest list, including Kim Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, among other prominent figures.
