Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has candidly revealed that she ended her marriage because she was contributing more financially than her ex-husband, actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole. The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, saw their marriage crumble within a year.
In a teaser for the upcoming episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Jegede expressed regret over choosing love over financial stability. She noted that their financial imbalance and her ex-husband's sensitivity to jokes due to their age difference played significant roles in their separation.
“He [my ex-husband] is eight years older than me. But the moment we got married, if I tell am say, ‘You dey crease,’ he would say I’m disrespecting him. I would if it was the same person I got married to," Jegede recounted.
She further elaborated, “But that wasn’t the main reason I left the marriage. Let me just say the fact, I was bringing more of the money. I’m taking care of my son like nobody exists around me. It’s not easy. I would have gone for money instead of love.”
Jegede's candid remarks highlight the challenges she faced during her marriage and underscore the complexities of balancing love and financial responsibilities. Her decision to prioritize her well-being and that of her son reflects a bold step towards personal empowerment.
