Grammy award-winning singer and performer Wizkid has reacted to a recent video in which Odumodublvck stated that Ayra Starr and Tems have achieved more than Wizkid, Burna Boy, Fela Kuti, and other notable artists.
In his comments on the popular social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Wizkid responded to Odumodublvck's claims made during an interview on the 'Cocktails & Takeaways' podcast hosted by Madame Joyce. Odumodublvck stirred controversy by asserting that Tems and Ayra Starr have outshined Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, as well as contemporary icons Wizkid and Burna Boy.
Odumodublvck praised the two female artists for their remarkable achievements in the music industry, highlighting the significant obstacles they have overcome, such as sexual harassment and intense competition. He pointed to their recent successes, noting that Ayra Starr's album "The Year I Turned 21" debuted on the US Billboard 200, while Tems's "Born In The Wild" charted at 56—feats he finds particularly impressive.
A social media user brought this to Wizkid's attention, and the star went on to praise the two female artists, affirming that Odumodublvck's statements were accurate. Wizkid expressed his admiration for both Tems and Ayra Starr, stating that they are indeed amazing and currently taking over the world.
Wizkid's response underscores his support for the new wave of Nigerian artists making significant strides on the global stage, further solidifying the collaborative and supportive spirit within the Afrobeat community.
