Doma's relegation struggles worsened by Sunshine.

Doma United's hopes of avoiding relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League took a major blow as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sunshine Stars in a rescheduled match-day 36 clash at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

The loss marked the team's 16th defeat of the season and left them languishing in 18th place on the league table with just 43 points, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The match got off to a tense start, with both teams fighting hard for possession and control of the game. However, it was Sunshine Stars who broke the deadlock in the first half, as Yusuf Ibrahim found the back of the net to give his team the lead

Despite Doma's best efforts to find an equalizer, they were unable to break down their opponents' defense and ultimately fell to a disappointing defeat.

With just a few games left in the season, Doma United now face an uphill battle to secure their place in the top flight for next season.

The team will need to regroup and put in some strong performances in their remaining matches if they are to have any chance of avoiding relegation. Fans will be hoping for a turnaround in form and a fighting spirit from the players as they look to defy the odds and secure their place in the Nigeria Premier Football League for another season.

The team was already facing challenges before Wednesday's match, as players protested over unpaid salaries and allowances, adding to the difficulties of their campaign.

As they prepare for their final game of the season against Abia Warriors on Sunday, a victory and three points may not be sufficient to salvage Doma's season.
