Tems Announces Plans to Start a Women’s Football Team

Nigerian singer and Grammy award winner Tems has revealed her plans to start a women’s football team. She shared her passion for sports and her vision for empowering female athletes on her YouTube podcast.

“I love sports. I love sports, but if I could play football, I would. I’m like a football fan,” Tems said. “I want to start a female football team. I think it is something that is needed. Like, why can’t we just have something like a local tournament with the girls? I feel like it would be fun.”

Tems emphasized that the women’s football team would participate in regional competitions, believing it would significantly benefit the Nigerian women’s league. Her initiative aims to create more opportunities and visibility for female athletes in Nigeria.

Tems rose to fame in 2020 with her collaboration with Wizkid on the hit song "Essence," which was later remixed featuring Justin Bieber and earned her a Grammy nomination. Her passion for sports and commitment to promoting women's football further highlight her multifaceted talents and dedication to positive change.
