Chief Femi Esho, Chairman of Evergreen Musical Company, has passed away at the age of 77 after a brief illness. His family confirmed his passing on Monday.
Known affectionately as Baba Esho or Baba Musician, Chief Esho was a monumental figure in the Nigerian music industry. He founded the Evergreen Music Heritage Foundation and was a dedicated mentor to many in the Highlife music scene.
Baba Esho played a vital role in preserving and promoting various Nigerian music genres, including Highlife, Juju, Sakara, Apala, and Afrobeat. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Nigeria.
The family will announce the burial arrangements soon.
