Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new record for the highest-grossing tour by an African artist.
Burna Boy achieved this milestone with his ‘I Told Them’ tour, which grossed an impressive $15.5 million from just 15 shows. Notably, revenue from six additional concerts is still pending.
American tour statistics company, Touring Data, shared this remarkable achievement in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
In addition to this tour success, Burna Boy also set a record for the highest-grossing arena concert by an African artist in the United States. His performance at the Capital One Arena in Washington on March 7, 2024, grossed $1.725 million, surpassing his previous record at TD Garden in Boston.
Moreover, his concert at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on March 12, with an average ticket price of $172.76, became the most expensive concert by an African artist in history.
Burna Boy's Canadian tour further solidified his record-breaking status, grossing $5.7 million from six shows—the highest for any African artist.
