Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about the pressures of being constantly compared to other female artists by overzealous fans. In a recent interview with BET, the 'Water & Garri' star expressed her frustration with fans who often claim that new female artists are vying for her "throne."

"Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’ And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition," Savage stated.

She expressed her joy over Tyla, a female artist, winning the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys, triumphing over male nominees.
