Ogbu's fiery comments came in response to a controversial post by Edochie, where he accused his late colleague, Junior Pope, of repeated betrayal.
Yul Edochie, a prominent figure in Nollywood, sparked outrage when he revealed that he intentionally stayed away from Junior Pope's burial in Enugu State.
Edochie explained that he wanted to wait until after the burial to disclose how the late actor had wronged him despite his unwavering support during Pope's challenging times.
"I didn’t want to say anything till after his burial. I know many asked why I wasn’t there. Why I haven’t said anything about it since. I took him like a brother & good friend. I was there for him when he needed me. But he stabbed me in the back repeatedly. That’s life! I’ll drop the full details soon so others can learn from it. Be careful what you wish people, it could come to you," Yul wrote on his Instagram story.
However, Charles Ogbu was quick to condemn Edochie's remarks, describing them as "nonsense and insensitive." Taking to his Facebook page, Ogbu did not mince words in his critique of Edochie's timing and tone.
"Yul Edochie deserves the award for the 2023/2024 most INSENS!T!VE pers0n. See the n0ns€nse he’s writing about the late Junior Pope," Ogbu wrote, expressing his dismay at the actor's decision to air such grievances publicly so soon after Pope's passing.
The late Junior Pope, a beloved actor in the Nollywood industry, tragically
passed away in April alongside three others when their boat capsized in a river in Anambra State while returning from a film location. His sudden death shocked the Nollywood community and fans alike. Junior Pope was laid to rest last week in his hometown in Ukehe, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
As the Nollywood community grapples with the loss of a cherished star, Edochie's explosive allegations and Ogbu's sharp rebuke have added a layer of controversy to an already somber situation. Fans and industry insiders are now eagerly awaiting the full details promised by Edochie, which are expected to shed light on the nature of the alleged betrayals.
