Angela Okorie Criticizes Zubby Michael for Publicizing Donation to Junior Pope’s Family

Nollywood star Angela Okorie has openly criticized her colleague, Zubby Michael, for publicizing his donation to the family of their late colleague, Junior Pope.

This criticism follows a video that went viral on social media, capturing the moment Michael made a donation to Junior Pope’s widow, Jennifer Awele, and their children.

In the viral video, Zubby Michael can be seen presenting a bag filled with bundles of cash to Junior Pope’s family. The gesture, intended as a show of support, has sparked significant debate online. While some praised Michael for his generosity, others, including Angela Okorie, have criticized the manner in which he made the donation.

Angela Okorie did not hold back in her criticism. She took to her Instagram story to express her disapproval, stating:

“Zubby na young person die, that showcase of money wasn’t necessary. But as a local boy that you are, you don’t have sense. You don’t know where to do show and where to behave well. Abi you get money pass all the dignitaries wey come there? Mugu.”

Okorie’s comments reflect her belief that the funeral of a young person is not the appropriate setting for flaunting wealth, emphasizing the need for sensitivity and respect during such a solemn occasion.

Junior Pope tragically passed away on April 10, 2024, alongside three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while they were returning from a film location.

His death has been a significant loss to the Nollywood community. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Ukehe in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, last Friday.

The incident has led to varied reactions among fans and the Nollywood community.
