The narrative surrounding the viral Chinese supermarket in Abuja has taken a new direction. Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, visited the Chinese Chamber of Commerce today and shared a video of the premises, revealing that there was no supermarket as claimed.

In his video tour, VDM showcased various offices and companies within the complex, refuting the existence of a supermarket. He highlighted that the area visited by the individual who sparked the controversy was actually a residential area, not a supermarket.

VDM further explained that the locked premises by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) were only opened for selling goods to residents within the estate.

He captioned the video:

"The whole Chinese supermarket thing was a lie and a set up,they should pick up that guy and those girls that went there, they deceived Nigerians over their own personal beef and ignorance ,,,does this look like a supermarket(what happened there is not in my place to say,the DSS are on it) to those of u that !n.sul.ted me for asking the right question what can you say about this now? I ask again, let’s assume say na supermarket what are you looking for there? Do you eat Chinese food?I knew something wasn’t right."

However, popular media personality Oluchi, using the X handle @General_Oluchi, has challenged VeryDarkMan's (VDM) claims, calling them misleading. She shared her own video to counter his narrative.

Oluchi clarified that the buildings and offices shown at the beginning of VDM's video were not sealed and were not the main issue. She highlighted that it was the last house in the clip that was sealed and under discussion. Oluchi questioned the nature of the woman's business in the sealed house and why VDM did not enter to show what the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) sealed.

She criticized VDM for what she perceived as a diversion, suggesting that he enjoys discrediting legitimate concerns. Oluchi expressed doubt about VDM's knowledge of the woman's business and questioned how he knew the details of her operations and sourcing. She also noted that if the woman runs an unregistered business from her home but discriminates against customers, it would constitute a crime.

She captioned the post:

"This clip is misleading!

"The building and offices he recorded at the beginning weren’t sealed and that’s not the issue! The last house in this clip is what was sealed and what is being talked about! What does the woman sell in there that Nigerians are not allowed to buy? Why didn’t VDM go in there to show us what FCCPC sealed?

"VDM should stop the distraction. I know he gets a hard-on discrediting legit concerns!

"How does he know what the woman sells in there and where she brings it from? If she runs an unregistered business from her home but discriminates then that’s a crime.

"A man said he saw an ad on social media and decided to go there to see what they sell but wasn’t allowed in.

"This is what you get from a lawless country."

See Oluchi's post below: In support of her claims, Oluchi shared a video from Premium Times where the facility manager confirmed the presence of a supermarket on the premises.
