The Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual award show presented by MultiChoice to honor outstanding performances in television, film, entertainment, and now digital content creation across Nollywood and the African entertainment industry.

The inaugural ceremony took place in Lagos, Nigeria, on March 9, 2013, and was broadcast live in over 50 countries.

Entries for the AMVCA are selected from films and TV series that aired in the previous year. The awards ceremony for 2024 is scheduled to be held in Lagos, Nigeria, in May and will be broadcast live on all Africa Magic channels.

The AMVCA features various categories for awards, recognizing excellence in different aspects of African entertainment. Exciting changes have been announced ahead of this tenth edition.

The awards will now focus on four main performance categories: Best Lead Actress, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.

Additionally, awards for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Comedy have been discontinued.

The AMVCA will also streamline its recognition of works in Indigenous languages, reducing the number of awards from seven to three. This change leaves awards for the Best Indigenous Language from East Africa, West Africa, and Southern Africa.

The awards ceremony will feature 27 categories, including 16 non-voting and 9 audience voting categories, as well as two recognition awards for lifetime achievement and trailblazing. The winners in the performance categories will now be determined by a jury, moving away from the previous audience voting system.

The jury, comprising experienced filmmakers from across the continent and led by a head juror, will also determine the winners in the 16 non-voting categories. The public will have a say in the winners of the remaining 8 audience voting categories. Deloitte will continue to audit the judging process and verify the voting results.

The AMVCA will continue to celebrate the talent in the African film and television industry, honoring those who work on-screen and behind the scenes. Filmmakers can submit their entries online for consideration. The awards ceremony is set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May and will be broadcast live on all Africa Magic channels.
