JUST IN: Social Media Influencer, VeryDarkMan finally released by Nigerian Police

The Nigerian police have finally released the social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, after initially refusing to do so on Sunday due to the Easter break.

According to SaharaReporters, VeryDarkMan was expected to be released on Easter Day, but the police stated that they did not have enough personnel available to process his release due to the Easter celebration. 

A source familiar with the situation informed SaharaReporters that despite the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, giving permission for the social media influencer's lawyers to retrieve him, the Investigating Police Officers(IPO) on duty claimed they had not received any instructions to do so.

“I heard that the IPOs the lawyers initially met said they had not received any instruction to release VeryDarkMan but later when they were able to reach DIG Alabi, he said there was no one available to process the release because of the Easter break.

“So he asked them to come back for VeryDarkMan on Tuesday after the Easter break is over,” the source said.

However, SaharaReporters’ claims that after it's report, the police released the social media influencer.
