As proposed Civil society groups on Tuesday, March 12th, commenced a walk tagged #Istandwithchiomaokoli in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The coalition group, made up of the Purple Women Foundation, Women Advocates Research & Documentation Centre (WARDC) and Enough is Enough Nigeria.

The march was in solidarity with Chioma Okoli, a pregnant mother of three children, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with the manufacturer of Erisco Foods, after posting a review of one of their tomato paste products on Facebook.

The group made up of basically women (and a few men) from the three groups were seen carrying placards and single solidarity songs in support of Chioma. They sang Free Chioma Okoli now and then moved about. During the march, the group also stopped in front of the Erisco Foods office to protest.

See the protest march below:

Meanwhile, Erisco's owner, Chief Eric Umeofia has been under fire for his comment. He
was quoted as saying he would rather die than for anyone to tarnish his image. He was also quoted as saying in the prison yard there are spaces for pregnant women and women with children. He said no one can bully him to drop the case that Chioma has to pay 7 million naira or go to spend three years imprisonment.

Watch him speak below:

However, the legal counsel to Chioma,
@InibeheEffiong is warming up for the legal Jujutsu with Erisco Foods. Listen to him speak below:
