Davido and Pinnick have reached an out-of-court settlement, with Davido set to perform at the 'Warri Again' concert.

Pinnick and his company had filed a lawsuit against Davido for failing to fulfill his contract to perform at the 19th edition of the 'Warri Again Concert' in 2023.

Brownhill Investment Company and Davido were granted an out-of-court settlement by a Delta High Court in Effurun. Justice Michael Obi of High Court 3, Effurun, praised both parties for reaching an amicable resolution.

“I commend both parties for exploring an amicable resolution to settle out of court,” Obi said.

Brownhill Investment Company is owned by Amaju Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

In October 2023, the company filed a lawsuit with the court against Afrobeats singer Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. The suit, marked EHC/183/2023, was filed due to a breach of contract by the defendants for failing to perform at the 19th edition of the Warri Again Concert.

The appellant requested the court to award ₦2 billion in general damages against the defendants for breaching the concert contract. Pinnick's company also sought ₦150 million for legal fees and ₦30 million for filing costs. 

In response to the court's decision, the defendants' counsel, Oladayo Ogungbe, stated that both parties had reached an out-of-court settlement.

“Davido is coming again to Warri on October 4 to perform – that forms part of the settlement.

“It’s fine. It is better than going through the rigours of litigations. Both parties consider the option of having the matter settled out of court, which in my opinion as a lawyer, is the best approach to any litigation. It is a win-win situation to both parties,” Ogungbe added.

According to NAN, the Warri Again concert is a yearly event put together by Pinnick to honor performers from the Niger Delta area.
