Meet Stephanie Linus, our Nollywood Actress of the week.

 


Stephanie Linus is a Nigerian actress, film director, and model. She was born on October 2, 1982, in Ngor Okpala, Imo State, Nigeria. Linus began her acting career in the late 1990s and has since become one of the most popular and successful actresses in Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry.


She has appeared in numerous Nollywood movies, including "Dry," "Through the Glass," "Emotional Crack," and "Make a Move." Linus has received several awards for her acting, including the Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards for her role in "Dry."


Stephanie has also appeared in over 100 films and has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations for her acting. 


These accolades include the Afro-Hollywood Awards, Film Makers USA Award for Excellence, Reel Awards for Best Actress, and the best narrative feature at the Pan African Film & Arts Festival USA. 


She has received special recognition also from the Los Angeles City Council and won the prestigious AMVCA 2016 Award for Best Overall Movie in Africa, as well as the AMAA Awards Best Nigerian Film for her recent work, "DRY". 


Prior to this, she made a highly successful directorial debut with "Through The Glass", which became the first Nigerian film at time to gross 10 million naira in its first week and received multiple awards.


Stephanie made her debut in the CNN documentary "50 years of Nigerian Independence" in 2010. During the same year, she had the opportunity to participate in an exclusive stage reading of the play "Seven" at the Hudson Theatre in New York City, alongside Hollywood A-list star Meryl Streep. 


This special event was part of the Women in the World Conference, which was inaugurated by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.


Stephanie had the honor of being invited by the Queen of England to attend the 2015 Queens Young Leaders Award at Buckingham Palace. This prestigious event recognized and celebrated 60 exceptional young individuals from Commonwealth Nations. Stephanie, a passionate advocate of the campaign, had the privilege of meeting Queen Elizabeth II and other esteemed guests at the Palace.


In addition to her acting career, Stephanie Linus is also a film director. She made her directorial debut with the movie "Dry" in 2014, which she also wrote and produced. The film focuses on the issue of child marriage in Nigeria and received critical acclaim both locally and internationally.


Linus is known for her philanthropic work, particularly in the area of women's rights and health. She is the founder of the Extended Hands Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides support and empowerment to women and girls.


Stephanie Linus is married to Linus Idahosa, a media and marketing consultant. The couple got married in 2012 and have two children together. Linus is also a fashion enthusiast and has been recognized for her stylish red carpet appearances.


She emphatically is a talented and influential figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry. She has made significant contributions to Nollywood as an actress, director, and advocate for women's rights.
