Vin Diesel, star of Fast and Furious, faces a lawsuit for allegations of sexual battery

Popular American actor Vin Diesel is facing legal action as he has been taken to court by a former assistant over allegations of sexual battery that reportedly occurred in 2010.

According to filings obtained by Variety, the plaintiff, Asta Jonasson, claimed that the traumatic incident happened while she was working for Diesel on the set of "Fast Five" in Atlanta.

Jonasson alleged that Diesel invited her into his suite at the Regis Hotel, forced her into his bed, and, when she tried to escape, pinned her to the wall and groped her despite her repeated pleas for him to stop.

The assault reportedly continued as Diesel allegedly forced Jonasson to touch him inappropriately. Feeling unable to escape, Jonasson described closing her eyes, trying to dissociate, and hoping the assault would end.

In addition to the allegations of sexual battery, Jonasson is also suing for unlawful termination, claiming she was fired by Diesel's company hours after the incident.

The lawsuit was filed in California under the state’s Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act, which was enacted in 2022. This legislation provides a one-year window for sexual assault survivors to file suits even if the cases have surpassed the statute of limitations.

Similar laws in other states, like New York, have led to legal actions against various celebrities and public figures for sexual assault allegations.
