Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has pointed to the perceived hypocritical love and support Nigerians exhibit for deceased individuals as the motive behind rapper Oladips' recent fake death announcement.
Oladips, who was earlier reported to have passed away, later provided evidence proving his continued existence.
Yul Edochie criticized the societal trend of showering appreciation only after someone's demise, urging Nigerians to support artists like Oladips while they are still alive, rather than waiting for them to pass away.
He condemned the jealousy and envy that hinder support for living talents.
On his Instagram story, Edochie wrote: “What’s up with the guy who faked his death? Una no wan trend am? Nobody is posting him?
“Nobody is posting his music cos he’s still alive. If he was truly dead by now, una no go let people rest. Everybody will be posting his picture and his music.
“To support dead people dey sweet una pass the ones wey dey alive. Support him now that he’s alive, jealousy and envy no go let una.”
