The organizers of the annual 'Warri Again Concert,' Brownhill Investments Company Limited, have filed a N2.3 billion lawsuit against hip-hop artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, for an alleged breach of an agreement or contract they had entered into.

Brownhill Investments Company Limited, which is owned by former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, submitted the lawsuit marked EHC/183/2023 to the Delta State High Court in Effurun.

The claimant, represented by their lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, is seeking N2 billion in general damages from Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. They are also requesting the court to order Davido to pay N150 million for legal and professional fees and an additional N30 million as the cost of filing the lawsuit.

Furthermore, the claimant is asking the court to instruct the singer to issue a public apology on all of his social media accounts and in two national daily newspapers for four consecutive days, directed to the claimant and the event attendees.

According to their statement of claim, the claimant stated that in early 2023, Davido approached Pinnick, and after a meeting at the Abuja Airport, requested to be engaged for the 19th edition of the 'Warri Again Concert' scheduled for October 6, 2023. Despite initial hesitation from Pinnick, they eventually agreed on a performance fee of N70 million.

The claimant further indicated that a payment of US$94,500.00 (equivalent to N70 million) was made on April 6, 2023, and this payment was duly acknowledged by the defendants. Davido also created a promotional video ahead of the event. However, he failed to show up on the day of the event, incurring additional expenses for a private jet of $18,000. All attempts to reach Davido and his team on the event day were unsuccessful, despite the private jet being on standby at the Lagos Airport.
