Duane "Keefe D" Davis, a 60-year-old former gang leader, recently entered a not guilty plea in a US court on Thursday regarding his involvement in the murder of the renowned American rapper, Tupac Amaru Shakur, widely known as 2Pac.

This case stems from charges brought against Davis in September 2023, with law enforcement alleging that he orchestrated the shooting alongside his late nephew, Orlando Anderson, following a confrontation with 2Pac at a casino.

The police presented hotel security footage from September 7, 1996, showing several individuals assaulting Anderson, which they claim led to the retaliatory shooting of the rapper while he was stopped at a red light in his car. Tupac Shakur tragically passed away six days later at the age of 25.

During a court hearing in Las Vegas, when District Judge Tierra Jones asked for his plea, Davis firmly stated, "Not guilty," contesting the murder charge against him.

Speaking after the hearing, Clark County District Attorney, Steve Wolfson said “We talked about it, and I determined that it’s not a case in which we should seek the death penalty.

“The fact that the world is watching really doesn’t matter. What we care about is presenting the evidence to a jury, so that the jury can make the ultimate decision”, he said, according to the Review-Journal.
