Unveiling our deceptive scheme; We exploit wealthy unmarried women through sham marriages – Suspect discloses

A man named Wisdom Mmaduka, believed to be a well-known scammer involved in advance fee fraud, has been apprehended and is currently being held in custody.

He hails from Onicha in the Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. His fraudulent activities primarily targeted women through the use of fake weddings.

Mmaduka is the leader of a criminal group that consists of individuals posing as parents and in-laws, who would accompany him to these fictitious wedding ceremonies.

The Imo State Police Command recently conducted a parade, during which Mmaduka, along with 18 other suspected criminals, were presented to the public.

The well-known advance fee scammer, Mmaduka, has been apprehended by detectives from the Owerri Area Command.

Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the state police command, revealed that Mmaduka was detained for fraudulently obtaining N1.4 million from Miss Judith through an ATM transfer.

The arrest was made possible through data-tracking analysis and an intelligence-led operation.

Mmaduka, who confessed to the crime, revealed that his modus operandi involves preying on affluent single women by offering marriage as a means to deceive them and exploit their finances.

“I found that many wealthy or comfortable ladies have trouble getting married and that they would go to any lengths to wed a handsome young man,” he remarked.

“I, therefore, began exploiting marriage as a means of extortion from them. Before leaving, I only completed a sizable portion of the marital rites.”

He disclosed that he operates a syndicate, using individuals posing as his parents and in-laws.

“The innocent lady will think I have excellent intentions after seeing these. As a result, I will steal their ATM card, steal all of the money from their account, and then vanish into thin air,” Mmaduka disclosed further.

Curiously, according to the police, six of the women he had deceived came forward at the station after his arrest and verified that they had been tricked out of substantial amounts of money by the same perpetrator employing identical marriage schemes.

“One red Highlander jeep, bearing the registration number LLD54AR, which he had stolen from Rose Mgbe ‘f’ of Cross River State, was found.

“Additionally, he has a duplex he allegedly built at Naze with the money he got from his fraud dealings.

“He has been arraigned in the Federal High Court, Owerri, and remanded in police custody”, Okoye added.
