I’d love to play single mum – Tems hints at becoming actress

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian sensation, Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized as Tems, recently teased her potential foray into the world of cinema.

The critically acclaimed artist, who boasts an Oscar nomination, expressed her interest in portraying the role of single mothers in upcoming film projects.

In a recent conversation with BBC Capital Xtra London, Tems, who was raised by a single mother in Lagos, revealed her aspirations for this exciting new career path.

She said, “I’m ready to act in movies. Not ready right now but I’m already good at acting.

“The first character I would love to play is a single mum. It doesn’t need to be struggling. It could be like a fun single mum or a single mum that has mysteries. A gangster.”

In a reminiscent note, it's worth recalling that the likes of Davido, Wizkid, and Mr Eazi have previously expressed their intentions to venture into the film industry, not as actors but as key players in executive roles.
