Global music icon, AKON, has been officially announced as the host of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw

The draw ceremony is scheduled to take place at the newly-built Parc Des Expositions in Abidjan on Thursday.

AKON, the Senegalese music sensation, will be co-hosting the event alongside former Cote d’Ivoire national team captain, Yaya Toure.

This duo is expected to bring an added touch of glamour and excitement to the eagerly anticipated draw, during which the 24 qualified African nations will discover their group-stage opponents for the tournament.

The draw will be broadcast in over 50 countries, with millions of viewers expected to tune in to the event on the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) Official YouTube channel, as well as through CAF's global television partners.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is set to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire and is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11.
