BBNaija All Stars: ‘Ilebaye won because of Nigerians’ underdog mentality’ – Doyin reveals

 

Doyinsola David, popularly known as Doyin, a former contestant on Big Brother Naija All Stars, has shared her thoughts on why her friend, Ilebaye Odiniya, emerged as the winner of the N120 million grand prize in the reality show. Ilebaye, a 22-year-old model from Kogi state, beat five other finalists on Sunday night.

In an interview with Sabi Radio on Monday, Doyin expressed her belief that Ilebaye's victory can be attributed to Nigerians' tendency to support the underdog. She stated that Ilebaye was initially seen as an underdog in the competition, as she was not as popular or well-known as some of the other contestants. However, Nigerians rallied behind her and voted for her, ultimately leading to her victory.

In her words; She said Ilebaye won because of “Nigerians’ underdog mentality.”

Miracle OP, the host os the program on radio  said: “We’ve seen different types of strategies [in reality shows]. And I don’t know why people still do this where they isolate somebody. Once you isolate somebody, especially so early in the game, human beings, especially Nigerians have the mentality that if a group of people are oppressing one person, that one person is our hero. It’s the underdog mentality.”

Doyin agreeing with the host said: “True. I think her [Ilebaye’s] storyline was meant to play out the way it played out.”

Doyin also mentioned that Ilebaye's humble and down-to-earth personality played a significant role in her win. She described Ilebaye as someone who was relatable and genuine, which resonated with the audience. Doyin believes that Nigerians appreciated Ilebaye's authenticity and saw her as a deserving winner.

Furthermore, Doyin highlighted Ilebaye's strategic gameplay as another factor that contributed to her success. She mentioned that Ilebaye was able to navigate the challenges and tasks in the house effectively, making strategic alliances and decisions that helped her progress in the competition. Doyin believes that Ilebaye's ability to adapt and strategize played a crucial role in her victory.

Doyin also expressed her happiness for Ilebaye and stated that she was proud of her friend's achievement. She mentioned that Ilebaye had worked hard throughout the competition and deserved the win.
