EMA introduces new Afrobeats category, includes Burna Boy, Asake, and more in nominations.

The MTV Europe Music Awards have unveiled a new category for the 2023 event called 'Best Afrobeats'.

 

The nominees for this category include French artist Aya Nakamura, as well as Nigerian singers Asake, Arya Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, and Rema. 

Additionally, Rema's collaboration with Selena Gomez on the hit song 'Calm Down' has been nominated for 'Best Song' and 'Best Collaboration'. 

Other nominees in the 'Best African Act' category include Asake, Burna Boy, Cameroonian singer Libianca, Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, and South Africa's Tyler ICU.

Burna Boy, the Nigerian music sensation, has been nominated for "Best Live Performer" at the upcoming MTV EMAs. This nomination puts him in the company of artists like Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.

Taylor Swift has received seven nominations at the 2023 MTV EMAs, including categories like "Best Artist," "Best Song," and "Best Video." Her single 'Anti-Hero' has also been nominated for "Best Video."

The 2023 MTV EMAs will take place on November 5 in Paris, France. It promises to be a star-studded event celebrating the global talents of musicians.
