Former PSG Director Leonardo admits PSG let down Mbappe, Messi, Neymar

In a recent interview, former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) director Leonardo openly acknowledged that the club did not meet the high expectations of star players Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar. Leonardo admitted that PSG could have done a better job in creating a conducive environment for the trio to thrive.

Leonardo, who recently stepped down from his role as sporting director, expressed disappointment over the club's failure to secure the Champions League title. He emphasized that Mbappe and Neymar joined PSG with the aspiration of winning this prestigious tournament.

He said: “People, they need to feel comfortable. These players need a state of good spirits, they need to feel support, they need to be recognised.

“And the ones who have do that are the club, us, and the coaches,” Leonardo told Brazilian publication Ge.

In light of PSG's recent Champions League exit at the hands of Manchester City, the former director emphasized the significance of building a cohesive team and cultivating a winning mindset among the players. He acknowledged that PSG faced difficulties in this area, leading to a negative impact on the performances of their key players.
