She has expressed her apology to Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie for her brutal and insensitive behaviour during the round of 16 match against England on Monday. However, Alozie melted hearts on Tuesday when she appealed to fans to forget about the event, noting that football is a game of passion. She took the high road extending an olive branch to Lauren and many has lauded her for the action.

James was shown a red card in the 87th minute following a VAR review after a stamp on Alozie.
