Davido Honors Wizkid's Late Mother During Afronation Festival Performance [Video]

Renowned singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, halted his performance during the Afronation fest in Detroit, United States, on Sunday to honor the memory of Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun. Mrs. Balogun, the mother of his colleague Wizkid, had passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Davido empathized with the experience of grief, expressing that he himself has suffered the loss of several loved ones, including his mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle, who passed away many years ago. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that Wizkid had made his mother proud through his musical accomplishments prior to her passing.

Addressing the crowd, Davido said, “Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace.

“I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”
