Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian former heavyweight champion, delivered a resounding knockout in the seventh round against his contender, Robert Helenius, at London's O2 Arena.

Helenius, a last-minute replacement for Dilian Whyte, who was alleged to have used performance-enhancing drugs, found himself in the ring with Joshua. In a striking manner, Joshua secured his first knockout victory since December 2020. With a precise right-hand punch, Joshua rendered Helenius unconscious in the seventh round, concluding a cautious bout.

This triumph advances Joshua's record to 26 wins and three losses. An eagerly anticipated clash with Deontay Wilder is on the horizon for Joshua in January.

This victory marks Joshua's consecutive wins following his decision-based triumph against Jermaine Franklin in April. Notably, it signifies his 23rd knockout victory throughout his career and his first since halting Kubrat Pulev in 2020.

The bout stands as an exemplar of Joshua's prowess, as Helenius has experienced just four knockout losses in a 37-fight career.

Speaking after the fight with DAZN, Joshua said: “People need to leave me alone, this is my time in the ring. Let me keep doing what I want to do.

“Helenius, I told him to come again. I think he can cause people a lot of problems. I don’t want to say too much. I want to see you again two more times this year.”

On Deontay Wilder fight, Joshua said “My back’s gone, is there a doctor in here? I want to carry this heavyweight division to the top!”

Speaking also with BBC, he said: “”It’s a fickle sport, you’ve got to be real about this industry and not get caught up. I’ve done my job tonight.”
