After their goalless draw in the match against Canada, Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat Australia 3-2 in a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup tie at the Suncorp Stadium.
Emily van Egmond opened scoring for Australia in the first half however, Uchenna Kanu started the comeback for Nigeria before the half-time break.
In the second half, Osinachi Ohale and Asisat Oshoala both scored for Nigeria, while Alanna Kennedy scored a late consolation goal for Australia.
Going by the result of the match, the Falcons are now the leaders of Group B with four points from two games.
Nigeria is ahead of Canada, which sits in second position and Australia, in third position. The Republic of Ireland is in fourth position with no points.
The Nigerian girls will be playing Ireland in their last group game next Monday.
