Record Breaker: Osimhen equals George Weah’s record for highest African goalscorer

With many years ahead to play, Napoli’s talisman, Victor Osimhen, currently has equaled George Weah’s record for the highest African goalscorer in Serie A with 46 goals.

If he stays in Italy next season, Osimhen will destroy Weah's records for good. However, with the rumour of a possible transfer to the English Premier League, we can only wait and see what next season unfolds.

However, on a night that Napoli had to score, the Nigerian did for them equalling the Ballon d’Or winner’s record with his massive goal against Udinese. Napoli has now clinch their first Serie A title in over three decades.

The Azzurri came into the game needing only a draw to be crowned Italian champions but found themselves behind in the 13th minute after Sandi Lovric put the hosts in front.

Osimhen netted a title-sealing equalizer for Napoli in the 52nd minute, causing the Napolitan fans to bounce in the Friuli.

The goal, which is his 22nd in the league this season, also saw him equalled Samuel Eto’o’s record for the Most Goals Scored by an African Player in a Single Serie A Season.
