Nigerian Idol: “You are not just a star, you are a disaster” – Dbanj berates contestant who performed Wizkid’s ‘Reckless’

Nigerian Idol Season 8 commenced airing yesterday, and as expected, there is plenty of talents to watch. Notable judges D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika returned for this season following the victory of Progress Chukwuyem in the previous season.

There are the budding stars, the not-so-good contestants, and there are the bad singers with no respect for note or rhythm. 

One of the acts that trended on Social Media yesterday was that of a contestant called Angel. He made the same appearance last season with the same performance. 

A video of Angel's performance at the Nigerian Idol Season 8 has emerged, generating reactions among netizens. Angel stood out by performing Wizkid’s popular hit song, Reckless, from his 2020 album Made in Lagos, which set records both locally and internationally.

Unfortunately, the middle-aged contestant’s rendition of the hit song fell short of the judges’ expectations, leaving D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika short of words.

In response to the performance, D’banj wasted no time in expressing his opinion.

“You’re not just a star; you are a disaster.” He said
