Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Femi Otedola is celebrating his birthday today, 4th November, and he is doing it in grand style. He has decided to have a luxury celebration by using about N1.4bn to rent a yacht for the day.
The oil magnate is 60 today and has decided to spoil himself in a fanciful and expensive way. He was seen in a video trending online with his family and his son-in-law, Mr. Eazi, addressing members of the super luxury yacht's crew popularly known as Christiana O, owned by Aristotle Onassis.
According to reports, the rented yacht would sail for three weeks with the billionaire and his family and friends. The super yacht, the biggest in the world, is owned by one of Otedola’s childhood friends, the late Greek shipping tycoon, Aristotle Onassis. In the past, Aristotle was once regarded as the richest man in the world.
Otedola is one of the richest men in Nigeria, whose source of wealth is oil importation. Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd’s founder also owned several other shipping, real estate, and finance businesses.
As of January 2022, an online report states that chartering the yacht for a week costs €620,000 or about N470 million (tax inclusive). Christina O offers a luxury voyage. Its 38 crew members include two spa therapists. The ship has hosted great presidents and ministers such as John Kennedy and Sir Winston Churchill, as well as celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra.
