Brighton humiliated Chelsea 4-1, handing Chelsea its first defeat under Graham Potter [Videpo]

Saturday changed from blue to black for Chelsea as Brighton humiliated the Londoners 4-1 at the Falmer Stadium. The loss has become The Blues’ first loss under Graham Potter since his appointment in September.

Brighton has handed their former manager Graham Potter his first defeat as head coach of Chelsea following a 4-1 win over The Blues at the Falmer Stadium.

Since Potter, Brighton’s former manager took over at Chelsea in September; the club has remained unbeaten until Saturday. 

Thiago denied Brighton twice from taking the lead in the first four minutes of the encounter, Leandro Trossard finally broke the deadlock for the hosts barely a minute later.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trevoh Chalobah both scored own goals to give Brighton a 3-nil first-half win in the eventful evening.

Kai Havertz pulled one back for Chelsea to reduce the deficit before Pascal Groß extended the lead back to three with a goal in the added time, as Brighton walked away with an impressive 4-1 victory.

The defeat is Chelsea’s first loss since the appointment of Potter in September, while the win is Brighton’s first win under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Chelsea has now dropped down to the fifth position on the Premier League table, replaced by Newcastle United, who won 4-0 against Aston Villa.
