On Thursday, Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani aka Ice Prince, was released on Thursday after meeting his bail conditions. Ice Prince’s release is coming more than two weeks after spending time in the police cell and the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
Nollywood Times reported that Ice Prince was arrested by the Lagos police command on September 2 and subsequently arraigned on a three-count charge of the alleged assault, obstructing police duties, and abduction of a police officer who stopped him for driving without a license.
According to Police spokesman Ben Hundeyin, Ice Prince was stopped in the wee hours of that fateful morning for driving without number plates; he assaulted a policeman and threatened to throw him in a river.
He was arraigned at a Magistrates’ Court in Lagos and was remanded in Ikoyi prison afterward.
Ice Prince was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum. After he was released from prison on bail, the excited ‘Oleku’ crooner, took to his Twitter page to announce and celebrate his freedom. He tweeted: “Freedom is priceless.”
