According to our reliable source, Nigerian singer Panshak Zamani known as Ice Prince, arrested earlier today, has been arraigned and remanded in Ikoyi prison.

Recall that Nollywood Times broke the news of this arrest earlier today by the Lagos State Police Command. He faces three count-charges of assault, obstruction, and abduction.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos Police Command, revealed to our source that the artiste was arraigned Friday at a Magistrate court in Ajah.

Assault

SP Hundeyin broke the news of Ice Prince’s arrest on his Twitter handle earlier Friday morning. He said the Oleku crooner was apprehended for an alleged assault on a police officer who stopped him for driving without license plates.

The police spokesperson added that the embattled singer threatened to throw the officer into a river at the point of arrest. He added a photo of the rapper in handcuffs to the tweet, saying he would be prosecuted.

Bail

SP Hundeyin told our source that Ice Prince’s bail conditions are the sum of “N500,000 with two responsible sureties,” adding that he would be released if he meets the conditions. The case, however, has been adjourned to September 7.

About the rapper

For those that don’t know, Ice Prince became famous after he released “Oleku,” one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs. The singer won the 2009 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour.

In 2011, Ice Prince released his debut studio album ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince.’ The album produced some big hit songs, including “Oleku,” “Superstar,” and “Juju.”

However, in 2013, the rapper released Fire of Zamani as his second studio album. The album contained the singles “Aboki,” “More,” “Gimme Dat,” and “I Swear.”

On 1 July 2015, he became the vice president of Chocolate City and held that position until he left the record label in 2016.
