Kidnappers threw victims off a bridge into the river, killing one person

Notorious gunmen in Anambra State kidnapped and flung some of their abductees off a bridge into a drainage channel.

Our source, The PUNCH, reported that the incident occurred on Sunday at Alor, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The victims were abducted along Nnobi-Nnewi Road and taken to Alor, where they were thrown down into the Obiaja River.

The video currently trending on social media portrayed one of the victims telling his tale Tiger Squad Local Vigilantes, Alor.

The victim, Benjamin Okafor, reported that while driving in his Toyota Camry to his hometown, Amichi, in the Nnewi South LGA with one passenger, the assailants accosted and kidnapped them around 9 pm.

After driving halfway into the 20-foot high bridge, he said the abductors threw them down, adding that he landed on a cemented base.

The second victim did not survive the fall as his lifeless body was found in the drainage, covered by flood and pebbles.

The surviving victim also sustained varying degrees of injury.

The Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The man was rescued and he is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. He was later identified and united with his family members. Meanwhile, the second victim has been taken to a morgue and investigation has since commenced.”
