Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared his stance regarding the three presidential aspirants in the forthcoming elections. He said he doesn’t have a preferred candidate and has promised to, in no distant time, reveal to Nigerians know his agenda for next year’s elections.

During his visit to the uphill residence of former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) in Minna, Niger State, Obasanjo made this known.

Though he did not give details of the supposed agenda, he maintained that he would unveil it to the general public sooner than later.

He also debunked the media speculation regarding his choice among the candidates for the presidency in the 2023 election stating that he has no preferred candidate.

He declared, “I do not have a special candidate. I only have a national agenda.”

Obasanjo revealed to the press that he was in Minna to see Abdulsalami Abubakar, who has been indisposed, adding that the former leader “is very special to me.”

“I came to see my brother, who has been a little indisposed. When he was in London, I wanted to visit him, but the day I arrived in London was the day he left. So that is why I decided to come and see him at home.

“He (Abdulsalami) is very special, and I am still strong to visit those who are special to me,” he said.

OBJ arrived at Abdulsalami’s Uphill residence at about 12.30 pm, and, exchanging pleasantries with his family members, he entered a closed-door meeting with the former Head of State.

The meeting lasted for a little over 30 minutes.

After the meeting, he left for another former president’s residence. He visited Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) for yet another closed-door meeting.

At about 2.30 pm, OBJ left Babangida’s residence for the Minna airport, where he flew to Abuja.

In the last couple of days, the former president met with prominent presidential candidates of the leading political parties in the country.

His first meeting was with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag-bearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Otta farm, followed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
