Abuja-Kaduna Train attack: Three more hostages released!

After the release of a fresh video showing kidnapped victims of the train attack being brutalized and the threat of the abduction of the President and El-Rufai, the terrorists have released three more victims today.

The news came barely 24 hours after the video surfaced online and the release was announced. 

Recall that the terrorists earlier threatened to kidnap the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd), the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, senators, and other government officials.

We had reported that the terrorists released 11 out of the 61 victims remaining 50 hostages in June. Also, seven more hostages were released in July, leaving 43 still in the abductors’ custody.

However, our source, the PUNCH, said that on Monday, at about 11 am, the abductor released three more victims - two males and a female.

It was gathered that the released victims’ families kept mute about the ransom; whether they was paid any or not, there was no such information. 

Further information from a security source revealed that the released victims’ families coughed out N100m each for the freed hostages.

“What I can tell you now is that the bandits have freed three victims of the abducted passengers. Those three released by them (bandits) include two males and a female. Each of those released paid N100m,” he said.

With the release of the third batch of three victims, whose identities have not been declared, 40 victims are still in the custody of the terrorists, having earlier set free 18 victims.
