Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Chief Press Secretary, of the Governor conveyed Okowa’s separate congratulatory messages in a statement issued in Asaba.

Governor Okowa, extolled the leadership qualities and astute contributions of Emefiele to the economic development of Nigeria since he was appointed in 2014.

He described the CBN governor as an `illustrious son of Delta’, whose remarkable contributions to the banking industry in Nation remained legendary and worthy of emulation, NAN reports.

“Mr. Emefiele is an illustrious son of Delta in whom we are well pleased.

“His astute contributions to the development of the banking industry and the Nigeria economy is legendary and worthy of emulation” okowa said.

The Governor said that as a distinguished son, Emefiele has had a remarkable but turbulent first term as CBN Governor, where he successfully played a critical role to steer the Nigerian economy out of recession.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate Mr Godwin Emefiele on his reappointment for a second term as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” he said.

Okowa commended President Muhammadu Buhari for finding Emefiele worthy to be reappointed.

The governor also felicitated with Vanguard Newspapers Editor, Mr. Eze Anaba and other members of the newly-elected executive council of the NGE.

He said that Egbemode had not only exceeded expectations since she took over the helm of the NGE, but had also taken the guild to greater heights.

“I have never doubted your ability to effectively lead the guild to the enviable heights you have taken it to.

“And I must thank your colleagues for rewarding your excellent performance in the last two years by unanimously returning you and some of your executive members unopposed,” he said.

Okowa also called on the NGE to join hands with other relevant stakeholders to ensure editorial independence and objectivity of the press at all times.

“As Nigeria continues to grapple with the challenges of insecurity and under development;

“It is, therefore, a challenge on the NGE, to ensure that editors continue to set agenda for good governance and development of the country through their editorial comments and feature writings,” he said.

Okowa said that he had no doubt that with the astute support of her colleagues in the guild, Egbemode would bring her wealth of experience to bear, not only in advancing the course of the guild, but also the journalism profession in general.
