Microsoft Office Goes Up On The App Store

The Microsoft Office suite of programs has been made available on Apple’s Mac App Store.

All of the most commonly used Microsoft programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive are now available to Mac users via the App Store instead of having to download MacOS versions elsewhere online. You will, however, need an Office 365 subscription to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Instead of using Microsoft’s separate AutoUpdate (MAU) tool to update Office for Mac, these Office apps will be automatically updated through the App Store

“We are excited to welcome Microsoft Office 365 to the all-new Mac App Store in macOS Mojave,” says Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “Apple and Microsoft have worked together to bring great Office productivity to Mac users from the very beginning. Now, with Office 365 on the Mac App Store, it’s easier than ever to get the latest and best version of Office 365 for Mac, iPad and iPhone.”

This Microsoft Office 365 app bundle was supposed to be released on the App Store at the end of 2018, but a delay in the launch moved it closer to end of January 2019.
