See What The Vogue Editors Are Wearing For New Year's Eve

The clock's ticking: will you play up the drama with star-spangled sequins or take five in luscious silk pyjamas come December 31? Either way it's time to get your look on lockdown - here's what the Vogue editors are wearing on New Year's Eve.

Dena Giannini, Fashion Market & Accessories Director

"I have a tradition I like to call “stepping in to the New Year” in a new pair of shoes, and this year I’m going for a mule from Malone Souliers. Its shoes are super comfortable and allow me to partake in my favourite pastime: dancing all night. As for the dress, I LOVE a sparkle-filled New Years, so I’m going with a sequin and feather number in black, of course, from 16Arlington (now on the LFW schedule for the first time this coming season). I’m obsessed with the tights from Hedoine, which are run- and tear-resistant, so I'll pair the dress with sheer black iterations. And for the bag, I'm choosing this one from Carolina Santo Domingo. I love that her bags are big enough for me to fit all my phones and lipsticks in."

Carolina Santo Domingo Eva box tasseled suede clutch, £585 at Net-A-Porter.com; 16Arlington feather-embellished sequin dress, £675, 16arlington.co.uk; Malone Souliers Marguerite 100 velvet-trimmed mules, £495 at Net-A-Porter.com.

Alice Casely-Hayford, Digital Editor

"I'm heading up to Edinburgh for the Hogmanay to see Metronomy and Franz Ferdinand – the ultimate nostalgic throwback to my teen indie years. In reality, I'll be wearing many, many layers of thermal underwear, several scarves and a hat, but in a parallel universe, I'll be dancing on a beach (maybe Tulum?) against a backdrop of fireworks, clad in this delightful slip dress from Rat & Boa. Next year."

Rat & Boa Jasmine leopard dress, £180, Ratandboa.com.

Ellie Pithers, Fashion Features Editor

"I’m off to the Alps to ring in the new year, where I plan to act like an extra in Charade and take the mod skiwear route to its natural conclusion: a Paco Rabanne chain-mail dress and my favourite Moon Boots for a midnight sledging expedition."

Paco Rabanne printed cotton jersey dress, £170, and embellished chain midi dress, £1,520 at Net-A-Porter.com; Moon Boots in classic black, £60, Moonboot.com.

Rosie Vogel-Eades, Fashion Bookings Director

"I loathe going out on New Year’s Eve – I prefer to stay in, go to bed early and wake up unbearably smug and fresh on the first day of the year. So, while I’m deep in JOMO on my sofa, I’ll be chic and cosy with a cashmere tracksuit from Olivia von Halle. Because I’m not totally dead inside, I’ll be pairing it with this fabulous Pinot Grigio / Better the Devil you Know T-shirt from one of my favourite brands, Blouse, and a perhaps a large glass of the same."

Blouse Pinot Grigio long-sleeved T-shirt, £75, Blouse.world.com; Olivia Von Halle Missy London striped silk and cashmere sweatshirt and track pant set, £995 at Net-A-Porter.com.

Venetia Scott, Contributing Senior Fashion Editor

"The dress is perfection – it's simple but couldn't be more striking."

Valentino one-shoulder dress, £2,300 at Net-A-Porter.com.

Naomi Smart, Shopping Editor

"I know, it’s pretty punchy to knock out a full winter white look on what’s meant to be the most celebratory night of the year. But I’ll be at a house in Norfolk, dancing around with a bunch of friends that will probably be in head-to-toe glam sequins, so my thinking is that for once I’ll take the quiet head-to-toe white route. That’s as long as they stay away from me with their red wine."

Paco Rabanne mini 1969 bag, £495 at Net-A-Porter.com; Gala Colivet Dennison earring, from a selection, Galacolivetdennison.com; The Row Ebbins crepe maxi dress, £1,325 at Net-A-Porter.com; Givenchy zipped boots, £1,225 at Farfetch.com.

Olivia Singer, Executive Fashion News Editor

Am I the most boring person imaginable at this time of year? I think so. I do not go out on New Year's Eve; I live for a board game (Monopoly) and Netflix (last year, I rediscovered Trinny & Susannah and rung in 2018 while celebrating well-fitting bras and good belts). The conventional glitz of the occasion is wasted on me. I will be hosting a DIY-spa-and-TV marathon at mine, where tracksuits are encouraged and face masks essential.

Supreme Marvin Gaye hooded sweatshirt, £168, Supremenewyork.com; The Row Gioli long-line cardigan, £2,675 at Matchesfashion.com; La Prairie Cellular 3-Minute Peel, £177, Laprairie.co.uk.
