Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former vice President, has disclosed that he walks a mile and exercises in the gym regularly. Atiku who is a presidential aspirant for the 2019 presidential election, said he is not saying this for people to vote for him as he takes a swipe at the presidency.
Recall on Tuesday, the presidency had in a statement praised president Muhammadu Buhari as fit to seek re-election after he walked 800 meters from the prayer ground to his residence in Daura, Katsina state.
The former vice president and a presidential aspirant, in reacting to the statement, had said he usually walks a mile and exercises often, but 'would i ask Nigerians to vote me because of that.’
Atiku said he is asking his party, the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to vote him because he can ‘work to create jobs not walk to create illusion’.He shared this via his Twitter handle:
I regularly jog more than a mile & exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask Nigerians to vote for me because of that. I want my party - the PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs.
