The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of sponsoring an alleged gunmen attack on Senator Godswill Akpabio’s home on Tuesday.
Ini Okopido, Chairman of the APC in the State, blamed PDP for the alleged attack on the former Senate Minority Leader, in his home town at Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The APC Chairman in the State, in a statement on Wednesday said the “unprovoked attack” on Akpabio’s residence was uncalled for.
“The APC family will not tolerate such unwarranted attack on any of her members/leaders. The hoodlums, while shooting sporadically around the environment, robbed passers-by and a nearby petrol station.

“Even though the incidence was promptly reported to the state Commissioner of Police by the retired Deputy Inspector-General, Udom Ekpoudom, who witnessed the attack and the CP responded by sending police reinforcement to the scene, such an action by unguided miscreants is unacceptable and condemnable.
“Politicians should play by the rules to forestall reprisals,” he added.
