The Lagos All Progressives Congress, APC organised two different congresses to elect new executives for the state chapter of the party on Saturday.
According to SaharaReporter, this new development can be interpreted as a challenge of former governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tight grip on the state’s APC.
The factional APC held its own congress at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, where Dr. Fouad Oki emerged as the new chairman of Lagos APC.
It could be recalled that Fouad participated as the Director General of the campaign organization of the incumbent Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode
However, the other faction of Lagos APC which is believed to have the backing of the former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the ruling APC, held its congress at the APC secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos, where Alhaji Tunde Balogun has emerged as the Chairman of Lagos APC also.
It could be further recalled that Fouad, was a Vice Chairman of the state party before he was suspended in March 2018 for party offences.
