Road Closed As Tanker Carrying Fuel Catches Fire In Anthony

The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) emergency response team closed a section of the Ikorodu Road along Anthony, moments ago following an inferno from a tanker loaded with fuel in the area.

According to a report shared from the scene of incident, the tanker moving inwards Idiroko – Anthony suddenly went up in flames leading to motorists and other road users running for safety.

Emergency response team officers were immediately seen at the scene an were able to manage the situation and the fire was put out.

As a result of the incident, the main carriage way was cordoned off for final evacuation of the burnt tanker by the rescue officers. However, the service lane is open for vehicular movement.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has disclosed that the tanker is currently being moved to a lay-by along Anthony to ease vehicular movement in the axis and as soon as this is done, the road will be open for vehicular movements.

Following the road closure a heavy traffic has built up along Ojota inward Idiroko. Motorists are however advised to use alternative routes to access their various destinations while rescue officers work to ensure free flow of traffic.
