The family of late Nollywood actor Francis Duru has released details of his funeral programme, announcing that the veteran entertainer will be laid to rest in his home state of Imo.

The burial arrangements were made public on Monday through a statement posted on the actor's official Instagram page.

The announcement was jointly signed by his sister, Anthonia Chenyi, and his first son, Ebuka Duru, who also extended an invitation to friends, colleagues, fans and members of the public to participate in the final ceremonies.

According to the family, the funeral activities will take place over two days in December, with a separate service of songs scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.

The first event will be a service of songs on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at Family Worship Center, located on Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja.

The programme is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm and will provide an opportunity for relatives, friends and members of the entertainment industry to celebrate the actor's life and remember his contributions.

The funeral activities will subsequently move to Imo State, where another service of songs will take place on Thursday, December 10, at the family compound of the late Pa Theophilus Ogide Duru in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano.

The final burial and interment will follow on Friday, December 11, 2026, at the same location, where Francis Duru will be laid to rest among his family members.

The announcement comes after the actor's death on October 22, 2026, at the age of 59. He reportedly passed away following an illness, although the family has not publicly disclosed the nature of his medical condition.

His death marked a significant loss to the Nigerian movie industry, where he established himself as one of the familiar faces of Nollywood through years of appearances in film and television productions.

Francis Duru earned recognition for his acting abilities and his contributions to the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry. Over the years, he built a career that endeared him to audiences and earned him a place among respected figures in Nollywood.

The release of his funeral programme now gives his admirers and colleagues an opportunity to prepare to honour his memory.

As preparations continue, the family is expected to receive mourners from different parts of the country who will gather to pay their final respects to the late actor.
