Nollywood actress Blessing Onwukwe has said she will not suspend her personal ambitions or stop enjoying life because she is yet to find a romantic partner.

The actress, widely recognised for playing maternal roles in Nigerian films and popularly known as Mama Monica, shared her views in an Instagram post while addressing questions about her relationship status.

Onwukwe acknowledged that she is single and occasionally experiences loneliness, but maintained that finding love or getting married would not determine how she lives her life.

According to her, although she hopes to experience a fulfilling relationship, she remains committed to pursuing her goals and making the most of her present circumstances.

In her post, the actress explained that she would rather continue building a life she could be proud of than put her happiness and plans on hold while waiting for someone to come into her life.

“Am I single? Yes. Do I feel lonely? Sometimes. Do I want love? Yes. Am I going to put my life on hold for it? No! I would continue building and living my life the best way I know how. If nobody comes, then I would be grateful I lived the life I am proud of,” she wrote.

Actress Addresses Questions About Marriage, Children

In the accompanying caption, Onwukwe disclosed that her single status has become a source of concern for some people close to her.

She revealed that friends and loved ones have occasionally asked about her plans to settle down and have children, suggesting that her relationship status has become a subject of discussion among those concerned about her future.

The actress, however, appeared unfazed by the questions, responding humorously while reassuring them that she was doing well.

She wrote, “Being single at my age really gets people who love me really worried. Blessing, how far naa, what about kids? (Me scratching my head) dont worry I am on it. Why una dey fear? But I am good, what’s the worst that can happen sef? Abeg let’s enjoy this life,” she added.

Her response reflected her position that being unmarried should not prevent anyone from appreciating life or working towards personal fulfilment.

Rather than allow questions about marriage and motherhood to dictate her decisions, Onwukwe encouraged a more relaxed approach to life, suggesting that people should enjoy their present experiences instead of constantly worrying about what has yet to happen.

Fans, Colleagues React to Her Post

The actress’s message has attracted considerable engagement on Instagram, recording more than 6,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

Fans and colleagues have responded with words of encouragement, supporting her decision to prioritise her happiness and personal development while remaining open to the possibility of finding love.

Her post has also generated conversations around the expectations placed on women regarding marriage and motherhood, particularly when they reach a certain age.

For many women, questions about when they intend to get married or have children can become a recurring experience during family gatherings and social interactions.

Onwukwe’s response highlights the pressure some unmarried women face and the need to recognise that people have different timelines for relationships and other major life decisions.

Her position does not suggest that she has abandoned the desire to find love. Instead, she made it clear that she does not intend to allow the absence of a romantic relationship to prevent her from pursuing other aspects of her life.

The actress also emphasised the importance of appreciating one’s journey, regardless of whether certain personal expectations have been fulfilled.

Onwukwe’s Career in Nollywood

Onwukwe has established herself in the Nigerian film industry through appearances in several Nollywood productions.

She is particularly recognised for portraying motherly characters, a screen identity that has earned her the nickname Mama Monica among viewers.

Her performances in such roles have made her familiar to audiences who follow Nigerian home videos and television productions.

Beyond her acting career, her latest social media post has offered a glimpse into her personal outlook, particularly her views on relationships, marriage and individual happiness.

By insisting that she will continue living fully while remaining open to love, Onwukwe has encouraged conversations about personal fulfilment beyond marital status.
