Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has encouraged professionals in the Nigerian film industry to explore the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, arguing that the technology can support rather than destroy creative careers.

The actor believes AI should be viewed as an additional resource for improving film production and storytelling, particularly when it comes to presenting indigenous Nigerian stories to wider audiences.

Speaking during an interview with TheCable, which was shared on Instagram on Tuesday, November 3, Adebayo questioned the growing perception that artificial intelligence poses a danger to the entertainment industry.

He maintained that the technology could simplify certain aspects of creative work and help filmmakers improve the quality of their productions when used appropriately.

Rather than resisting its development, he advised industry professionals to acquire the necessary skills to understand how AI works and how it can be integrated into their projects.

According to him, organised training programmes would help actors, directors, producers and other creative workers make effective use of the technology.

He also stressed the importance of applying AI in ways that support local storytelling and preserve the value of indigenous content.

Adebayo's position comes at a time when artificial intelligence is generating widespread debate across the global entertainment industry.

While some professionals have expressed concerns about possible job losses, copyright issues and the effect of automated tools on human creativity, others see opportunities for improving production processes.

The filmmaker's comments suggest that proper education and adaptation could help Nollywood benefit from technological developments without losing its cultural identity.

Beyond his work in front of and behind the camera, Adebayo has continued to expand his involvement in the creative sector through investments in facilities and professional development.

He recently unveiled Euphoria360 Hub in Oregun, Lagos, a creative centre equipped with production facilities. The establishment also houses the Euphoria360 Film Academy, which is expected to train aspiring filmmakers and other professionals in the entertainment business.

The academy plans to organise workshops, training sessions and masterclasses to develop the skills of emerging talents.

Through the initiative, Adebayo is seeking to contribute to the growth of the industry by creating opportunities for people interested in filmmaking.

His latest remarks reinforce his belief that technological advancement should be approached as an opportunity for growth, with adequate training helping Nigerian creatives remain relevant in an evolving film industry.
